Goodbye Shame

Goodbye Shame

Shame grows
Like sprouts in the ground.
Small at first
Then spreads all around.
Pull one up
Find the root that grew.
Where once one
There now appears two.
Burrowed deep
They cling to the earth.
Hostile seeds
To whom they give birth.
This one is named “unworthy”.
This one I call “unloved”.
They are my identity
And shame rises above.
They make their home here
I watch them grow.
I hear their voices
It’s all I know.
Spring comes
The temperatures rise.
Rain falls
Darkness fills the sky.
Weeds everywhere
None you can control.
Taken over
No words can console.
Weeds yield no fruit
Therefore they can’t stay.
The Gardener gently
Carries them away.
Nourishing plants
He primes them to grow.
Living Water
Drenched in love He sows.
Sourced from the Branch
I shine in the Sun.
Abide in His love
His affection I’ve won.
So goodbye “unworthy”.
See you later, shame.
There’s no room for you “unloved”
For I have a new name.
Who lives here now
Is Worthy and True.
By His power I am healed
By His power I’m made new.
So goodbye “unworthy”.
See you later, shame.
There’s no room for you “unloved”
For I have a new name.
